Working meeting on the implementation of BIM technologies. Results
On November 17, a working meeting of the professional community was held to discuss the draft Guidelines on methods for organizing the structure of information containers, collaboration, and processes using Building Information Modeling (BIM). Data Management.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, GIZ, the Reform Support Office, as well as members of the UA BIM Community and experts from the construction industry.
The event began with welcoming remarks Olga Chepelyuk , Technical Advisor to the Project “Promoting Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine”, (GIZ) GmbH: “Our Project sincerely supports Ukraine’s aspirations to implement BIM technologies, prepare legislation and standards in this area. Today, we are satisfied with fruitful cooperation and collaboration and already have the first results of work with the Department of Technical Regulation in Construction of the Ministry of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine. We will continue to support, facilitate and provide expert assistance to the Ministry. We have experience both in the construction industry and in the field of construction waste processing. Today we will talk about draft Standards related to BIM technologies. We sincerely thank our partner Public Organization “Business for Partnership” and Zhanna Paciori personally for organizing this not the first meeting in this area.”
Olena Voskobiynyk, Director of the Department of Technical Regulation in Construction of the Ministry of Community, Territorial and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine: “Among other things, we studied foreign experience in implementing BIM technologies together with colleagues from the Reform Support Office. In this direction, Ukraine, which is not yet a Member State of the EU, is far ahead of most countries in terms of digitalization of processes. This direction creates very great prospects, although it also requires a lot of work, but it will be interesting! Now we are faced with the task of bringing a single BIM model into line with the Standards in the field of construction, as well as the possibility of introducing automatic checks or examinations.”
Yuriy Podolchuk, BIM specialist, member of the UA BIM Community:
“We can discuss for a long time the number and implementation of Standards. We could take projects from other countries as a basis, but they will not take into account the specifics of Ukraine, which has its own laws and rules. Therefore, the question arises of creating supporting documents. After a number of discussions, we came to the conclusion that such a document will be created in the format of guidelines and will consist of 2 parts: the first will describe the concept, principles, methodology; the second part will contain the specification of civil, industrial production, etc.”.
Igor Yurasov, Head of BIM Department, Archimatika, member of the UA BIM Community:
“The main task of the guidelines is to correlate the data of all participants in the construction process, reducing them to a common denominator, when the customer and the contractor use the same terminology and indicators, which will have legal force and eliminate the problem of ambiguous interpretation.”
Also during the meeting, the need to modernize the State Classifier of Buildings and Structures, which will include the use of BIM technologies, was voiced.
As a result of the expert discussion, the following proposals were made:
1. The official publication of the draft Standards is expected on December 5-6, 2023, which will be available to all interested parties;
2. After the end of the public discussion period for the draft VIM Standards, the community should hold a meeting to process possible comments (tentatively, early February 2024);
3. The Ministry proposed to the VIM community to create a pilot project for automatic inspection of a construction site (for example, a kindergarten or school).
At the end of the meeting, Zhanna Patsyora thanked everyone present for their time and attention, and also invited them to participate in the Energy Efficiency Week 2023, within the framework of which the Round Table “Energy Efficiency in Ukraine: Achievements and Future” will be held on December 14.
